Pupil DilationEye Dilation

We use drops to dilate the pupil to allow our doctors to diagnosis more accurately problems of the eye that may otherwise go undetected.  When your eyes are dilated the pupil cannot constrict when lights are shined into the back of the eye allowing a full view of the inside parts of the eye.

OCT Imaging

OCT Imaging

Family EyeCare and Contact Lens Center now offers highly advanced technology to diagnose a wide range of eye care symptoms. Our Doctors use an innovative scanning system called OCT Imaging to produce highly detailed images of the retina, inside lining of the back of the eye. OCT is the first and only instrument that can "see" below the surface of the retina to examine the retinal layers.

Stratus OCT™ TechnologyOCT enables our doctors to clearly see the internal structures of the eye, so problems can be identified and treated in the best way possible. This is a powerful tool that helps to protect vision.

The breakthrough images of OCT provide detailed, x-ray-like images of structures affected by glaucoma and other abnormalities of the retina, including detached retina, diabetes, macular holes, age-related macular degeneration (AMD), and pre/post cataract macula assessment. It is also safe and requires no needles or shots and takes only minutes to perform.

How OCT Works

How OCT Works

  • Light beam is simultaneously sent to the eye and a reference mirror
  • The light penetrates through the ocular tissue layers and is reflected back
  • The returning light is compared to the reference (interferometry), generating a cross-sectional image of the underlying tissue
